Simultaneous posthydrolysis and liquid–liquid extraction: a SIMPLLE process to detoxify eucalyptus prehydrolysis liquor

چکیده
Abstract The prehydrolysis liquor from the Kraft process is rich in sugars and could thus serve as a sustainable feedstock for production of various chemicals. However, its industrial utilization impeded by presence fermentation inhibitors extensive lignin precipitation, latter receiving only little attention literature. In order to provide suitable biotechnological or chemical conversion, eucalyptus wood must be detoxified whilst preventing precipitation lignin. To increase yield monomeric sugars, acid posthydrolysis should investigated. Various solvents solvent mixtures were screened high temperature liquid–liquid extraction isothermally separated liquor. Their capability prevent extract was assessed using mass balances size-exclusion chromatography. Based on screening, simultaneous proposed investigated statistic experimental design. Liquid–liquid aliphatic alcohols effectively prevents addition 25% (w/w) tri- n -octylamine found overall inhibitor efficiency. conditions Box-Behnken design, allowing maximum sugar 83.0% at purity 91.6%. liquid-liquid (SIMPLLE) avoids industrial-level problems associated with precipitation. It provides carbohydrate-rich stream low levels inhibitors, enabling further conversion value added products.

Gallium extraction from Jajarm Bayer process liquor (Jajarm, Iran) was investigated using microemulsions. Also the behavior of aluminum was studied as an impurity. Kelex100 (4-ethyl, 1-methyl, 7-octyl, 8-hydroxyquinoleine), iso-decanol and n-butanol, and kerosene were used as the surfactant, co-surfactant, and oil phase, respectively. Ternary phase diagrams were produced using various co-surfac...
متن کاملXylitol Production from Eucalyptus Wood Hydrolysates in Low-Cost Fermentation Media
Several aspects concerning the bioconversion of xylose-containing hydrolysates (obtained from Eucalyptus wood) into xylitol were assessed. Debaryomyces hansenii yeast strains were adapted to fermentation media (obtained either by prehydrolysis or autohydrolysis-posthydrolysis of wood) supplemented with low-cost nutrients. Media containing up to 80 g/L xylose were efficiently fermented when the ...

متن کاملThe Relationship between Two Methods for Evaluating Five-carbon Sugars in Eucalyptus Extraction Liquor
Alkaline pre-extraction and hydrothermal hydrolysis were carried out with eucalyptus chips. Two methods were used to determine and calculate the extraction yield of five-carbon sugars. One is an indirect method, based on the difference of pentosan content between the chips before and after pre-extraction. The other method is to directly measure the content of five-carbon sugars in the extractin...
